Bank of America says outage nearly fixed after customers see $0 account balance

An apparent glitch hit Bank of America’s services on Wednesday, October 2, with several customers reporting that they were unable to access their accounts or getting a zero balance.
In a statement, bank authorities said that services were restored after fixing the glitch. Reports of technical glitches spiked around 1 pm (US time) when about 20,266 outages were reported, according to Downdetector.
Many customers complained that they could not see their account balances. Some who could access their accounts were seeing a balance of $0.
“App not working and online banking shows yesterday’s balance,” one user said on Downdetector.
“Both the App and Browser access to BoA remain at least partially down for us,” another user said.
“Can now see some of our accounts, but not all of them. And the transfer between accounts function remains non-functional for all accounts,” another user said.
Some customers took to social media to air their grievances, stating that Bank of America had yet to alert them to the issue and that they were getting little assistance from customer care.
After receiving the complaint, Bank of America officials acknowledged that “some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today,” in a statement to CNN.
“These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved,” Bank of America officials were quoted as saying by the CNN.
“We apologise for any inconvenience,” the officials added, while declining to specify what caused the problem. Meanwhile, it was not clear when all systems would be fully back to normal.
Earlier in August 2020, the Bank of America also faced a technical glitch where account balances displayed $0 to bank customers.
